We were asked to install this Stained Glass Sundial, by John Carmichael,
into the residence of a local Las Vegan. The resident did not understand the complexity of installing a single glazed window
( sundial) into an existing dual glazed system. To tell accurate time, this sundial was designed for this specific window.
It would not work accurately anywhere else. Therefore, it was important to design a metal frame that would accomodate the
sundial, and also fit into the existing dual glazed framework.
Special
thanks to Chris at Carl's Air Conditioning & Sheet Metal for frame fabrication, and Chris Benitez for massive welding
skilz.
The shadow from the frogs nose tells the date and time. It is
now 2:30 PM and almost touching the curved summer solstice line. As the days pass the shadow will shorten. On September
21, the shadow will touch the straight line ( equinox)
